What Is Google Analytics?
Google Analytics is Google’s free web analytics platform, used to track and report on website traffic — where visitors come from, what they do on your site, and whether they convert.
How It Works
The current version, GA4, tracks user behavior as a stream of events (page views, clicks, form submissions, purchases) rather than the older session-and-pageview model used by Universal Analytics. This event-based model gives more flexibility to track exactly the actions that matter to your business, across both websites and apps in one property.
Key Features
GA4 reports cover acquisition (where traffic comes from), engagement (what people do once they’re on your site), monetization (revenue and ecommerce data), and retention (how often people come back). It also integrates directly with Google Ads and Search Console, and supports custom event tracking and audience building for more advanced analysis.
