What Are Zero-Click Searches?
A zero-click search is one where the searcher gets their answer directly from the search results page itself, without clicking through to any website.
What Causes Them
Featured snippets, knowledge panels, quick answer boxes, and other SERP features that display information directly on the results page are the main drivers. Simple factual queries — weather, definitions, unit conversions, sports scores — are especially prone to being answered without a click.
What They Mean for Your Traffic
Zero-click searches mean a growing share of search visibility doesn’t translate into a website visit, which can make raw ranking position a less complete measure of SEO success than it once was. Even so, appearing in a featured snippet or answer box still builds brand visibility and can drive clicks for queries where the searcher wants more detail than the snippet alone provides.
