What Is Google Search Console?
Google Search Console (GSC) is a free tool from Google that lets site owners monitor and troubleshoot how their website performs in Google Search — indexing status, search performance, and technical issues.
Key Reports
The Performance report shows which queries and pages are driving clicks and impressions, along with average position and click-through rate. The Coverage (or Indexing) report flags pages that are or aren’t indexed and why. The URL Inspection tool checks the live status of any individual URL. Additional reports cover Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, structured data, and manual actions.
How to Use It
Search Console is essential for diagnosing indexing problems, tracking which keywords actually drive traffic (data that’s largely hidden elsewhere due to “not provided” search terms), submitting sitemaps, and getting notified directly by Google about critical issues like security problems or manual actions. It’s typically the first place to check when a page isn’t ranking as expected.
