What Is a Content Hub?

A content hub is a group of pages organized around one core topic, with a central “hub” page linking out to more specific “spoke” pages, which link back to the hub in turn.

Content Hub Structure

A typical hub follows a simple pattern: one broad, comprehensive page covers the topic at a high level (the hub), while individual pages dig into specific subtopics in depth (the spokes). Internal links tie every spoke back to the hub and often to each other, creating a tightly interlinked cluster search engines can crawl easily.

How It Differs from a Pillar Page or Silo

The terms overlap heavily in practice. “Pillar page” usually refers specifically to that central hub page. “Silo” describes the same clustering idea but with a stricter emphasis on isolating topics from each other, sometimes down to the URL structure. A content hub is the broader, more flexible version of the same concept: group related content, link it densely, and let the structure signal topical depth to search engines.
