What Is 10x Content?
10x content is content built to be ten times better than anything currently ranking for a topic — not just longer, but genuinely more useful, better designed, more current, or more thoroughly researched than every competing result on page one.
The term comes from former Moz founder Rand Fishkin, who argued that “pretty good” content isn’t enough to earn links and rankings in competitive spaces; you need something categorically better.
How to Create Content 10x Better Than Competitors
Start by reading everything already ranking on page one for your target keyword, and note what each piece is missing — outdated data, no original examples, thin explanations, no visuals. Then build something that closes every one of those gaps at once: original research or data, expert quotes, clearer structure, better visuals, and a more complete answer to the reader’s actual question.
10x content doesn’t need to hit an arbitrary word count. A concise page that answers a question faster and more clearly than ten competing 3,000-word articles can still be 10x content.
